In February half term I went to New York for my Mums 50th Birthday. Whilst we were there I took the opportunity to visit Joffrey Ballet school. I took two classes a year 2 ballet class and a partnering class. They were challenging but I really liked the teaching.
I also met the Head of the school and she told me about the day to day life of a ballet student at Joffrey and the performance opportunities available. I then met the Head of Education and she talked me through the educational opportunities. Like the UK you are expected to stay in formal education until you are 18, I would have the option of transferring to the US system or staying in the UK system. All lessons are on line and the learning takes place outside of your ballet training so often in the evening and weekends.
I left feeling like it was the place for me to be, the students were really friendly, I met one student from London who absolutely loved the school and she said there was someone else from the UK in the first year.
A few days after my visit my Mum got an email to say that Joffrey were offering me a place on their summer school with a 50% scholarship. Initially my Mum said I couldn't go as it was still too much money and because its in June too much time away from school. My ballet teachers however, all felt it was such a wonderful opportunity that I should try and go. Fortunately, my new headteacher is really supportive and said "Go for it".
I'm now having a clearance sale of old stock and I have added some new styles to add to my collection to try and raise the funds. Even with the 50% funding its still going to be a lot of money, so please help me raise the money by telling all your friends. The clearance range of bun garlands are only £2:00 each
I also have a Just giving crowd funding page so if you know anyone who could help please could you let them know about me.
